I always find haunted places to be extremely fascinating. What makes them even more fascinating to me is when people start to have the exact same stories as other people do about the haunted place. Halloween is a great time to go and visit a haunted place because the ghosts seem to be more active around this time of year but be careful; you’re bound to get spooked fast at one of these haunted places.

10. Ararat Lunatic Asylum in Australia

The Ararat Lunatic Asylum in Australia is said to be the biggest lunatic asylum abandoned in Australia. IT opened up back in the year 1867 and a lot of mental patients that where incurable lived in the asylum. Around 13,000 people had died there when they were in full operation. In the year 2001 they opened it back up as a campus of NMIT (Northern Melbourne Institute Of TAFE) and administered as the Australian College Of Wine. On a personal note, after knowing the history of it and seeing ghosts, I think I would want to have some wine myself!

9. The Princess Theatre in Melbourne, Australia

The Princess Theatre opened up in the year 1886 and a couple of years later after the opening, many ghost sightings have been reported. Maybe one of the reasons is because in March, 1888 there as a talented and well known bass baritone singer, Frederick Federici, who died when singing at that theatre. He sung his role then died shortly after taking he finished his bows. People believe that if you saw his ghost before your show that it was a good omen and not a bad one. I would think of it as the opposite.

8. The Great Wall of China

This location has received lots of reports of ghosts, strange sounds of footsteps marching and apparitions. Employees and even the local tourists have reported them. A lot of the villagers locally refuse to visit the wall by themselves because they are afraid something bad or unfortunate might happen to them if they don’t have anyone else with them.

7. Cinco Saltos in Argentina

There have been lots of reports to ghosts being in Cinco Saltos, which is a city located in Argentina. The city was nick named the “City of Witches” because of all the reports of the witchcraft activities that take place. The witchcraft activity is another reason why people believe this place is so haunted and has a lot of ghosts. Back in 1914, settlers arrived in this city. In the year 1918 a lot of floods happened and death. This was the start of it becoming a ghost town and haunted.

6. San Juan de Dios Hospital in Colombia

Back in the year 2001, this hospital in Colombia was abandoned. There have been several reports of a nun wandering around the hospital rooms. People who have reported the nun often times said she was administering some medication. Other people have reported ghosts wandering throughout the halls and the rooms. The hospital morgue has had many reports of paranormal activity, then any other part of the abandoned hospital, which makes perfect sense if you ask me.

5. Dragsholm Castle in Zealand, Denmark

The Dragsholm Castle is considered to be a very historic haunted building. It is said that James Hepburn, the 4th Earl of the Bothwell family, haunts the grounds at Dragsholm Castle. He died in 1578 at the castle but up until his death, he was imprisoned for around 5 years. People who have spotted the ghost of James Hepburn said that he was riding through the castle’s courtyard on a carriage and with a horse. Other ghost reports have included a white lady and a grey lady. In the past few years the Bottger family helps to manage the castle. They have made it to look more modern and have turned it into an attraction and restaurant.

4. The Baron Empain Palace in Egypt

The Baron Empain Palace is a very fascinating and spooky place to visit. It’s considered to be a distinctive historical mansion that is in Heliopolis. Many tourists who visit Baron Empain Palace have said that they hear voices in the palace and more so at night. Police, guards and the tourists have reported seeing apparitions of a lot of the former residents wandering around the palace and more so at midnight. A lot of tourists are scared to travel the palace halls at night because of the voices and apparitions. However, I think I would bravely venture out into the night because it would certainly make the trip a memorable one seeing a ghost!

3. Frankenstein Castle in Germany

The Frankenstein Castle in Germany overlooks the city of Darmstadt Germany. It is rumored that this is the castle that inspired Mary Shelley to write her novel Frankenstein. There have been lots of reports of ghosts and people also have reported seeing the ghost of Mary Shelley walking around the halls of Frankenstein Castle.

2. Dimond Center in Anchorage, Alaska

The Dimond Center in Anchorage, Alaska sounds like a very interesting place to visit. It’s a popular shopping mall and you’ll find over 200 retail stores, offices and restaurants to visit. What makes the Dimond Center so interesting is that they built it over the burial grounds. Visitors have reported the Native Americans haunting the place and walking around it. After knowing this information, I think it would still be a great place to visit – just prepare yourself to possibly get spooked out by a ghost.

1. Farragut State Park in Athol, Idaho

A lot of visitors have claimed that they have seen ghosts in Farragut State Park in Athol, Idaho. During World War II, a homicide and a suicide happened at this park and three hundred thousand Navy Personnel lived there at that time. Visitors have claimed that objects will move by themselves and other strange things happen.

Conclusion

There are so many other haunted places out there that I didn’t even mention in this article. Some of those places include Ashmore Estates in Illinois USA, Free Union Separate Baptist Church in Kentucky, USA, Castle of Good Hope in South Africa, The Kremlin in Russia, the Hoia Baciu Forest in Romania and the Quinta da Juncosa in Portugal. This just proves that you never know when you visit a place if it could be haunted or not. What makes it fascinating is that most visitors repeat the same stories almost the same as other visitors before them of ghosts and strange occurrences happening in whatever haunted place they might be in.
