On a cold winter day sometimes the only way to warm up is by having a delicious bowl of soup. I don’t know about you but there’s something very comforting when you’re having a bowl of soup when it’s cold outside. There are some soups I remember having as a kid and just falling in love with them and even during the summer the can still be good to have.
Check out these 10 delicious winter soups:
10. Loaded Potato Soup – I can never have just plain potato soup!
I don’t know about you but I love potato soup and not just potato soup by itself but a loaded potato soup. It must have that yummy cheddar cheese shredded on top, green onions sliced thinly and of course, crumbled up bacon. What makes it even better is that you can pick out your favorite ingredients that I’ve mentioned and sprinkle them on the soup to your liking.

9. French Onion Soup – rich in taste and melts in your mouth
If you have never tried classic French onion soup then you are missing out on a very nice treat. The soup itself is rich tasting and the onions just melt in your mouth. Depending on what type of recipe you use, you’ll find that it will only take around 20 minutes to cook it so it doesn’t take very long. Just preparation and gathering the ingredients together might be the only thing that takes a few minutes but after you’re finished cooking you’ll be able to enjoy a nice bowl of French onion soup.

8. New England Clam Chowder – chow down time!
This is another favorite that is great with a few pieces of bacon crumbled on top. New England Clam Chowder requires potatoes, onions and of course canned clams. If you don’t feel like doing any of the cooking then you can always buy the clam chowder in a bowl of soup but nothing beats having homemade New England Clam Chowder.

7. Tortilla Meatball Soup – the not so traditional winter soup
I did not grow up with having this as a kid and as a matter of fact, I was not introduced to tortilla meatball soup until I was a teenager. This soup might be something that you either love or hate. The good news is if you love tortillas like I do then you might enjoy this soup a lot. If you don’t like jalapeno peppers then you can easily leave those out but that’s one of the ingredients that really adds flavor to it and makes it special.

6. Broccoli and Cheese Soup – a great way to eat veggies during the winter time
It can be hard sometimes getting people to eat vegetables during the winter time. This is a great way to get them to eat their vegetables and at the same time have a nice bowl of soup. I love to melt cheese on this soup and sometimes I add in onions and chopped up pieces of bacon. Velveeta Light is one of my favorite types of cheeses to use for this soup. Broccoli and Velveeta light cheese….no wonder it makes a great soup!

5. Tomato Basil Soup – perfect with a glass of wine
I think that this is just one of those soups you can have year round and never get tired of it. I know that I do! Adding in basil on top of the soup really makes it taste great. Light cream cheese can also be one healthy ingredient that you can put in the soup. Having some French toast on the side with a glass of wine, really makes this soup just taste awesome. This is another soup that doesn’t take very long to cook.

4. Vegetable Beef Soup – Another great way to have veggies in the winter
If you’re not a big fan of broccoli and cheese soup and would like to have another way to stay healthy during the winter then having vegetable beef soup is great. What’s in the classic vegetable beef soup? Your choice of vegetables, tomatoes, black pepper and thyme. I recommend buying a frozen bag of mixed vegetables so you can get all of your favorite ingredients in your vegetable beef soup. Potatoes go very nice with this soup.

3. Egg Drop Soup – The soup with a Chinese twist to it
I love egg drop soup. It’s the only soup I have that has soy sauce in it. It’s great with almost any Chinese meal that you have. What makes it really good is the mushrooms in the soup and of course adding in some chopped up green onions makes it taste even better. Sometimes I like to even dice up some cheese in my egg drop soup.

2. Butternut Squash Soup – a soup full of rich and sweet flavor
When I was a kid this was one soup that I was not crazy about at first but then as I grew up I started to love it. Butternut squash soup has a mix of carrots and onions in it and of course, pureed butternut squash. Maybe I didn’t like it much as a kid because of the carrots. Whatever the reason, I just love it now and I think that if you’ve never had it before then you should try it.
