I love to color and always have. Back in the year 1903 was when Crayola released the very first classic eight crayons. It turned out that people thought the first box was very boring. It just had the original such as black, orange and green. In 1905 they finally decided to expand their crayon collection and add 30 more colors. Today, Crayola now has a big selection of over 100 crayons to pick from. No matter what their age is, give someone a box of crayons and a coloring book and they’ll know what to do and they’ll have some fun doing it. If you’re looking to buy some crayons but would like to give some different colors and not sure what’s out there then check out these 10 Crazy Crayola Name Colors. It’ll make you wonder how they came up with the name.
10. Outer Space
In some ways I can understand as to why they named this crayon outer space but it’s still a very unusual name to give it. The crayon itself is more like a grayish blue color. In some ways it makes me think of outer space but in other ways it does not. I can think of lots of other names to give this crayon. If you’re drawing an outer space theme, you’ll want to make sure that you have this crayon with you.
9. Inchworm
Yes. There’s a crayon called inch worm. I guess they thought it would be a cute name to give it because the color of the crayon is a light green, almost like a worm. I think about books when I hear this name and I guess because inch worm reminds me of bookworm. Next time you need a green, don’t pull for the boring green color. Instead, use the inchworm color.
8. Tickle me Pink
Right away when I saw that the name of the crayon was called Tickle me pink I thought of Elmo and was reminded of Tickle me Elmo. Why did they name a pink crayon “tickle me pink”? Elmo is not pink. Elmo is red. It would have made more sense for them to call a red crayon “tickle me red”. However, I don’t think that they had Elmo in mind when they named this crayon. Don’t we all tend to turn pink in the face after someone tickles us?
7. Macaroni and Cheese
The Macaroni and Cheese crayon is a very light orange color and in some ways, it does remind me of macaroni and cheese. The only problem with the name of this crayon is I get hungry and I want to eat the real deal and have some macaroni and cheese. Time to put the crayons up and go in the kitchen and make some food.
6. Laser Lemon
There are a few goofy names for yellow crayons but this is one of the crazy ones. A couple of crazy yellow names for crayons include Dandelion and Unmellow Yellow. Laser lemon lives up to its name. The crayon is a very bright yellow that looks like a lemon and so bright that you could turn it into a laser. The sun might have a new look if you use this crayon instead of the classic yellow. Another funny yellow crayon name is also Banana Mania.
5. Neon Carrot
How can a carrot become a bright neon orange? Well, if you use the neon carrot crayon then you might be able to answer that question. If you’re coloring an orange and would like to confuse it, use the neon carrot crayon. I am sure that the orange you’re coloring will be shocked to see that you colored it with a neon carrot color and might even start to think that it’s a carrot instead of an orange.
4. Magic Mint
Tired of being around someone that has bad breath a lot? Not sure how to remind them that they need to brush their teeth? Give them some magic mint crayons. This won’t only remind them that they need to brush their teeth but they’ll have some new exciting green crayons. Magic mint crayons also make great stocking stuffers for anyone.
3. Asparagus
Yet, another crazy name for a green crayon. My only question is what kid might use the asparagus crayon instead of using the classic green crayon? I think that only us adults might find this crayon kind of cool but still – if you saw the classic green or if you saw the asparagus crayon green color, what color would you end up going after? Yes. I painted the leaves with the asparagus crayon.
2. Eggplant
Yes. There’s a crayon named eggplant. I do not know why. Maybe this would be a good one to put in a Christmas collection. I am not a big fan of eggplant However; the color looks kind of cool. Almost like a purple type of color that looks very close to the color of an eggplant. Here’s yet another example as to if I had to pick between the purple eggplant color or the classic purple color what one would I pick? You got it. The classic purple crayon. Sorry, eggplant.
1. Fuzzy Wuzzy
The name of this crayon makes me laugh. I automatically think of the nursery rhyme “Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear”. Maybe that’s what they thought about too when they named this crayon. The color of the crayon is a brownish color that’s very much like the color of the bear. I think it would be more fun coloring a garden or a yard with using the fuzzy wuzzy crayon instead of just using the classic brown crayon. The only problem is the image of the bear will be stuck in your mind the whole time you’re using it and it make you afraid to use the crayon. On second thought, Fuzzy Wuzzy was really a bear right and not a crayon or am I wrong?
Conclusion
There are lots of other silly names such as Atomic Tangerine, Mauvelous, Salmon (Yes, salmon for the name of a crayon), Electric Lime and even Antique Brass. I guess it’s safe to say you never know what name might pop up when you open your box of crayons.
