10 Ways To Get Yourself Out of a Rut
10. Review your bad habits and find ways to replace them with healthy habits
Let’s say you have a habit of thinking negative about a situation. Stop thinking negative about it and start thinking positive about your situation. Review all of your habits. Meditate and see what ones might be bringing you down. Replace those habits with healthy ones. Maybe it could even be simply changing your sleeping schedule to help you with feeling better. Every day remind yourself of the healthy habits and see the old bad habits fading away.
9. Help others that might not have as much as you
Helping others is a great way to get out of a rut. You don’t even need to give anyone money in order to do this. Just be kind to them and say nice words to them. All you need to do is compliment them. If you’re able to take them out to eat or send them some groceries you will start to feel better about yourself.
8. Just let it out – scream and cry
One thing that I’ve been guilty of doing is holding in my emotions and not letting them out. However, sometimes the best way to get out of a rut is with just letting them out at once and let go. Scream and cry. After you’ve done that see how you can learn from it then let go of it. The more you hold onto that angry, the worst off you will end up feeling then it will cause you to have health problems. Normally it’s better if I do this by myself but other times it is better when a friend is here for me. Each situation is different. Have a friend with you if needed.
7. Listen to calming music and turn off any that makes you angry
What you listen to in the car or throughout the day can make you angry and depressed. Only listen to music that helps to raise your vibrations and comforts your soul. Listen to songs that help with making you not only feel better but even get you in the mood to dance. Dancing can help with getting you out of a rut and you’re moving your body around.
6. Read more inspirational stories
Reading inspirational stories can help with giving you inspiration. There are lots of free inspirational stories available on Amazon. Listening to them on YouTube is another idea. Write down the key points of the story that inspired you the most so you can go back later and reflect on the moments that inspired you.
5. Get on a good sleep schedule
It’s important to get on a good sleep schedule. If you’re only getting 5 or 6 hours of sleep each night then this can cause depression, mood swings and much more. If you’re having a hard time with sleeping at night then try and meditate before bed. Calm yourself down some and take deep breaths. Picture yourself having a wonderful night’s rest and then see yourself waking up refreshed and full of energy for the day.
4. Eat healthy and exercise more
During the cold months it can be hard to exercise or even to eat healthy. Why do people have a hard time eating healthy during the cold months? Well, it’s a time of soups and carbs. People feel warmth with a nice bowl of soup. It can be hard breaking out of this right away when summer comes. Review your eating habits and exercise habits. See how you can start adding in exercise to your schedule daily and see what eating habits you should change.
3. Change your way of thinking
Briefly I mentioned this when talking about changing your goals but sometimes you’ve just got to change your way of thinking in general. Just remember not everything is as bad as it seems right now. Thinking negative can cause anger and depression. You might even be holding yourself back in many areas of your life thinking this way. Picture things becoming better. See yourself changing and your situation becoming better.
2. Make a plan for the future that you will enjoy doing
When I say make a plan, what I mean is have a plan to visit a friend or maybe go on a trip somewhere. Having a plan can help to inspire you to go towards your goals in life. Currently I have a plan that at some point in my life I want to visit my friend in Austria. This means working and saving money. Gives me a reason to save and get things done. Reward yourself for your hard work. It doesn’t even have to be anything big like going to Austria. Maybe just to get out and go somewhere locally like to a nice restaurant and treat yourself.
1. Meditate daily
Meditation is so important. It doesn’t matter how you meditate. You can meditate by praying, doing yoga, saying affirmations or whatever helps with clearing your mind and changing the cycle you are currently in. Try to meditate at least once a day in order for it to help with really making a difference. There are videos on YouTube that can help you with being able to meditate if you need more guidance.
