10. Color before you sleep
Coloring isn’t just for children. Many adults enjoy coloring. The reason why is because it’s relaxing. It can calm you down and put your mind at ease. It’s also a great way to distract yourself from the worries of tomorrow or from that day. There are lots of peaceful coloring books available for adults. If you’re coloring to help calm you down I recommend nature coloring books for adults or animals. A couple of more ideas include doodling or either writing to help you with being able to sleep better.
9. Sleep with a heated pillow
If you’re sick or not feeling great, a heated pillow can help you with being able to sleep better at night. You will also find heated microwavable neck pillows. These are also great if you’re planning on traveling. You can just put them behind you and sleep better with the warmth on your neck. Heat therapy might be just the thing you need to help you with being able to sleep at night. If you’re unsure as to what kind of heated pillow you should get, talk with your doctor or either look online and research heated pillows and read reviews on them.
8. Exercise at night
Exercising at night is a wonderful way to help with getting rid of any stiff joints that you might have from being at work all day. All you need to do is just go on a walk or jog for at least 10 or 15 minutes and then take a nice shower afterwards to help your body relax. There’s nothing like going on a walk and watching the sun go down when you exercise. You might want to also consider walking with a friend if you decide to exercise at night.
7. Say peaceful and calming mantras or affirmations before sleeping
Take a deep breath. Try and stay as calm as possible. Let all of your worries about tomorrow go away. Don’t even think about tomorrow before sleep. Tell yourself a couple of these affirmations: “I close this day with pure joy and now I drift into a deep sleep”. “I am going to wake up feeling refreshed after my deep sleep.” “I have done my best for today.” Go to sleep with no worries.
6. Put glow in the dark stars on your ceiling
Count the glow in the dark stars on your ceiling instead of sheep. Transforming your ceiling for the night can really make a difference. Children find them relaxing but they aren’t just for children. Adults also use glow in the dark stars at night because of the fact they are peaceful and it can help them relax. Your mind just tends to drift away and you’ll find yourself soon fast asleep. Avoid anything that’s extremely bright that glows in the dark and might cause a distraction. Only have glow in the dark items that tend to be peaceful.
5. Make sure that your alarm clock is out of sight
I don’t know if you’re like me but when I can’t sleep at night I tend to glance at the clock every few minutes to see the time. This makes me become more anxious as I notice that time is slipping away and I cannot sleep. I have found putting the clock out of sight at night is a great way to help me with being able to sleep better. It also helps when you have to walk over and actually turn off your alarm instead of just leaning over and touching it to turn it off. When that happens I often times just roll over and go back to sleep.
4. Remove any screens in your bedroom
I know this might be difficult for some of you to do. Remove any screens in your bedroom. This includes the television, phones, computer, tablets, or other screens you might have. If you’re not able to remove them from your room then put them on sleep mode in order to help you with being able to sleep at night.
3. Laugh a lot before sleeping
Watch a comedy and laugh a lot before you go to sleep. This is a great way to relax your body. By now, I am sure that all of you know that laughter is also very healing. It only makes sense to laugh a lot before bed. I have also found that when I cry a lot before bed I wake up with a headache the next day. When I laugh a lot before bed, I wake up feeling great.
2. Mimic sleep movement
What I mean when I say to mimic sleep movement is simply this: Start off by closing your eyes. After you have closed your eyes then start rolling your eyes backwards. This tip will help to mimic the movement of your eyes before you fall into a deep sleep. This also helps with instigating a deep sleep. You might also try putting on a sleep mask.
1. Sleep without any clothes on
Say what?! If that didn’t get your attention I don’t know what else possibly could. Just like sleeping with a heated pillow helps, sleeping in a cold room can also help. When your body temperature is cooler it can help with being able to fall asleep faster. You can help with making your body temperature cooler by having a cold shower before bed or just with not having any clothes on when you sleep! Try coloring without any clothes on before bed…
